I’m Darla, the face behind Darla Marie Photography. I’m a wife, mama, professional overthinker 🥴 & somehow decided I wanted to put myself in the public eye 😬😂
Photography has always been something I have loved, but the older I get, the more I realize how much pictures ACTUALLY mean.
Looking back at photos of yourself as a kid, your family, your first love, your senior year, your best friends, your babies when they were tiny… there’s just something about being able to go back to a moment you can’t actually go back to.
And I think that’s why I love this so much.
Every little
in-between.
I love the cute posed pictures, obviously, but I love the in between stuff too. The little looks, the laughs, the kid who won’t sit still, the hair out of place, the moment that maybe didn’t feel “perfect” while it was happening… but somehow ends up being one of your favorite pictures later.
First loves. Best friends. Seniors. Families. Milestones. Just regular life. It all matters.
And when it comes to editing, I’m a total viber 😂 I don’t want every session to look exactly the same just because it came from me. Some photos call for warm and cozy, some moody, some bright and playful, some a little dramatic. I edit based on the people, the location, the light, and the feeling of the session.
At the end of the day, memories change, people grow, life moves way too fast… and pictures are one of the few things that let us hold onto a little piece of it.
Which is probably why I still pay for TWO Photobuckets because apparently my teenage memories are a protected historical archive, they shall remain that way until i figure out how to get them all safe & sound. 😂😂
But really, that’s what I want Darla Marie Photography to be about. Not perfect people in perfect moments. Just real people, real memories, and photos you’ll be glad you have years from now. 🤎📸
